Surgical Oncology and General Surgery

Originally from southern California, Dr. Ferry received his undergraduate degree in general and molecular biology from the University of California-Irvine. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin (Marquette University) in 1994. After completing a surgical internship at the University of Hawaii he went on to five years of general surgery training at Baylor University in Texas. He then finished training with a two-year fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Miami in Florida. Dr. Ferry is certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is one of the very few Society of Surgical Oncology-trained Surgical Oncologists in Oregon.

His areas of specific interests include melanoma and other rare skin cancers, breast cancer, colorectal surgery, hernia surgery, endocrine surgery, and soft tissue sarcomas of the trunk and extremity.

In his spare time, Dr. Ferry enjoys travel and time spent with his wife and two daughters. Tending to the Pinot Noir plants in his vineyard and wine making are among his other passions.

General Surgery

Dr. Terhes is a board certified general surgeon. He earned his medical degree in 1998 from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. He also completed his internship and general surgery residency at Oregon Health and Sciences University. He has practiced General Surgery in the Eugene/Springfield area since 2004. Dr. Terhes performs a variety of general surgery operations including hernia, gallbladder, colon, and has a special interest in thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

Dr. Terhes has served as Chief of Staff at McKenzie Willamette Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and member of Oregon Medical Association and the Lane County Medical Society. He currently serves as a Safety and Quality Committee Member for the Northwest Safety and Quality Partnership between Washington State Hospital Association and Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems.

Dr. Terhes grew up in Salem, OR, is married, and has two children. He enjoys traveling, hiking/geocaching, music, reading to his children, cooking, video games, and sports.

Avanté Manager

Relatively new to Eugene, Karissa attended Pioneer Pacific College. Eager to get into the medical field, she chose the accelerated program to earn her degree as a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant. While attending school she worked with adults with developmental disabilities and enjoyed social work. She feels that the best part of her job is interacting with patients and participating in their care. Since becoming certified her career goal is to continue education and learn more about oncology. In her spare time Karissa enjoys running, attending outdoor activities, and traveling with her fiancee.
