John M. Terhes, M.D., F.A.C.S
General Surgery
Dr. Terhes was born in Lorrain, Ohio, and was raised in Salem, Oregon. He moved to Eugene in 2004 when he began his surgery practice. Dr. Terhes is a Board Certified general surgeon and has a broad practice with extensive experience with hernia, gallbladder, and colon surgery, and has a special interest in thyroid and parathyroid surgery.
Education
Dr. Terhes earned his medical degree in 1998 from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. He also completed his internship and general surgery residency at Oregon Health and Sciences University. Dr. Terhes completed a Critical Care Fellowship
Associations & Volunteer Positions
Dr. Terhes has served as Chief of Staff at McKenzie Willamette Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and member of Oregon Medical Association and the Lane County Medical Society. He currently serves as a Safety and Quality Committee Member for the Northwest Safety and Quality Partnership between Washington State Hospital Association and Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems.
Personal Interests
Dr. Terhes and his wife, Amanda, have two children. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, hiking/geocaching, music, reading to his children, cooking, video games, and sports.
